Royal Melborne - TMan & JTurner Nice sunny skies! TMan defeats JT 24 to 22. What an awesome match....Great fun. Great challenge. Thank you TMan. We both only had one bogey and both only had one eagle. Here is what it looked like from my screen: www.ustream.tv/recorded/15875527Best of luck TMan! Confirmed. What a great match! First off, who is responsible for turning the wind on? I checked offline real quick before I logged into chat. It was 2mph. On our first hole it was up to 7 and on hole 2 is was 11 ;D I got off to a great start. Birdie on 1 with a 21 footer and eagle on 2 with a 28 foot double breaker. Then I had problems on the next several holes with judging distance on approach shots. Short of the green on the 3rd, short of the green on 4 (my only bogey) and short of the green on 5 (nice bunker save for par). I have a 2 point lead at this point and JT makes his only bogey at 9 to give me a 3 point lead at the turn. I made birdie on 11 to up my lead to 5 and this is where the fun began. As anyone who has played a head to head match with me knows, I'm rather slow As a result, JT finished nearly every hole before I hit my final putt. On 12 he's in with birdie and I answer by making a 22 footer. On 13 he hits a thumper for birdie and I follow with a thumper too. We both par 14, although I only missed my 63 foot birdie putt by a foot. On 15 JT is in with birdie while I'm standing over an eagle putt. I hit it too hard and it goes 14 feet past. It's not an easy one but I make it for birdie. On 16 he's in for birdie and I have 13 foot, lightning fast putt that I make to match him. On 17 he's in with birdie and I make a 14 footer to answer so I head to the par 5 18th with a 5 point lead. JT hits a thumper that leads to an eagle. I'm standing over a 31 foot putt knowing that I have to get down in 2. Fortunately it's uphill and my eagle attempt stops 1 foot from the hole. After falling behind by 5, JT was -7 on the final 7 holes. I had to finish the final 7 holes at -6 to hold him off. You certainly played well enough to win. There's any number of medium to long putts I could have missed and we'd still be playing or I'd have lost. Good luck the rest of the way! Here's the video from my angle: www.ustream.tv/recorded/15875525TMan TMan - when you made that eagle putt on hole #2 - I did not think I had a snowballs chance. It's like playing the lottery; sure you might win, but what are the odds! ;D ;D I like the modified scoring format very much - it really can throw a curve into the equation. There were two shots I wish I could play again. The first was the drive on the D4 hole #6. I could not remember if I could clear the trees on the drive. By the time I decided to go for the green the shot clock was ticking and I did not have time to add a little bit of loft. The drive went over the green. The second was the pitch shot on hole #11. We both had a short pitch to the hole - mine came up short and rolled back down the hill. You made the birdie and I settled for a par. Thanks for the great post Tman. JT

JT It's interesting that you should mention these two holes. I took a look at your video on hole 6 and you are probably less than a yard from being OB (I think the cart path is the boundary). I got hit with that earlier this year so I never aim for the green in tournament conditions. I just played it out to the right with a 3W and pitched on for birdie. Regarding hole 11, I'll let you in on a secret. I played a practice round on Thursday night and my pitch shot did the same thing. I knew not to expect any roll out there and planned accordingly. I still almost under hit it, though.

OFFICIAL PLAYOFF RESULT ROUND 1 AT MELBOURNE
Motnola defeats Davski 14 - 13
This was an awesome round. I got off to a fast start, with birdies in 3 of the first four holes, while Davski birdied only one of those to fall behind 6-2 in points. But I started shooting bogies and by the 10th hole we were tied at 4 points each.
That's when D turn on the boosters, with birdies at 11 and 12. I could barely keep up, but at the 14th hole he hit a par while I got another bogey. So he went ahead by one point with four holes to go. Here's how those played: We both birdied 15, 16 and 17, so at the 18th tee D was still ahead with a score of 13-12.
We hit similar tee shots at the 18th, but my second shot found the green (about 19 ft from the hole), while D was on the fringe or short off the green. I had a consideable break, but figuring he would pitch and putt for birdie I was gearing up to gamble on an eagle putt. Instead, I saw his pitch shot roll long almost off the green. So I played a safe two-putt for birdie, and breathed in relief as I saw his birdie try miss the hole by a bit.
That putt me ahead 14-13.
Fun round Davski, and good luck in the next round.

confirmed.
Yeah, that chip shot on 18 didn't go so well for me lol. Tons of fun. It's great to have a match that was back and forth like this. I thought I was done early, but fought back. I double bogeyed #6 which hurt. Great game mot, and good luck in the next round!!!!

OFFICIAL PLAYOFF ROUND AT SHESHAN
Motnola defeats TMangrove 16 to 12
I started hot, with three birdies in the first five holes, and that allowed me to build too big a lead. TMan shot a remarkable 32 in the back nine, while I made a few bogeys, but the damage has been done earlier. Much closer in the stroke count, though, 66 to 65. Fun game T.

I played like garbage this round. I always seemed to be missing fairways or greens by a foot or two. I had two putts lip out and several other that were close. I think I hit one good approach shot in 18 holes. Congrats on the win, Mot, and good luck in the final. You were the better player when it counted. TMan

I'm always harsh on myself. I expect to hit all wedges to within 5 feet or less and make every putt inside of 20 feet. Does that seem unreasonable TMan
I'm always harsh on myself. I expect to hit all wedges to within 5 feet or less and make every putt inside of 20 feet. Does that seem unreasonable TMan
Well, that is a very tough standard to match. Lowering the expectatiosn a bit may make the game a bit more enjoyable. My ussual goal is to finish in the top 10 in every EA event, and in the top 5 in club events. Mot
